What It Means to Drive an IS F Today

Introduced in 2007 as the first model in the LEXUS “F” performance line, the IS F combined a 5.0-liter naturally aspirated V8, the 2UR-GSE, with a rear-wheel-drive layout.
Press the accelerator and the V8 responds naturally, revving eagerly toward the top of its range while delivering the distinctive driving feel of a rear-wheel-drive sports sedan.
Today, there are countless cars that are faster and more powerful.
But a sports sedan powered by a large-displacement, naturally aspirated engine and driven through the rear wheels has become an increasingly rare proposition.
And that is precisely why the IS F feels special in a different way today than it did when it first appeared.
